Big Four OK'd song sample lengthening

PUBS VS. LABELS: Apple had gotten the green light from all of the Big Four to stretch iTunes song samples from 30 to 90 seconds and was planning to break the news at Wednesday’s Steve Jobs presentation before the NMPA essentially said, “Not so fast, buster.” This according to CNET, which had first reported the sample-extension news, citing inside sources in both cases (see 9/1p item below).
