BlueHaze target of acquisition interest--DMN

BUBBLING UNDER: A number of prospective buyers are kicking the tires of mobile music upstart (as opposed to startup) BlueHaze, Digital Music News reports. The company specializes in music-related apps, including artist, concert and even music-focused gaming concepts. The interested companies are largely focused on expanding their mobile infrastructure capabilities, clientele and intelligence, sources tell DMN. Founder Mark Shedletsky would likely be part of any acquisition, a move designed to lessen competitive threats and bolster the brainpower of the combined entity. "The idea is to get their know-how on the other side of the fence, in addition to the capabilities," a source explained. BlueHaze has secured content deals with the majors, digital distributors like the Orchard and higher-profile app relationships with acts ranging from the Pixies to Michael Buble. This news closely follows the Disney’s pickup of Tapulous, and a broader level of consolidation appears afoot, DMN notes. (9/9a)
