Linkin Parked

LINKIN PARKED: Just several weeks ago, pundits were predicting sales of 400k+ for Linkin Park’s new Warner Bros. release, A Thousand Suns, based on the band’s last album, Minutes to Midnight, which sold 623k when it came out three years ago in May ’07. With one-day sales reports in, the Rick Rubin-produced effort, the band's fourth, now appears headed for an underperforming first-week total of between 250-260k (see related HITS story here). What happened? It’ll be interesting to see if the new label team headed by Rob Cavallo and Todd Moscowitz can keep the album selling through the end of the year. (9/15p)
