BAD ROMANCE: Earlier this year, Phillips’ chronic problem with telling the truth resulted in AEG losing the Lady Gaga tour, and millions in lost income. This misstep occurred immediately after the Grammys, when, in announcing a “We Are the World”-inspired all-star single to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, Phillips initially trumpeted that Gaga would be part of it, and subsequently claimed that she’d reneged, when she’d never committed to doing it in the first place. Gaga’s team found out about these falsehoods via an email received during a meeting with Phillips, causing them to abruptly walk out, whereupon they promptly left AEG for rival Live Nation. (9/22a)
