Iovine's Idol

IOVINE IDOL: Perhaps more important than even the final anointing of Jennifer Lopez and Steve Tyler as American Idol judges is the show's hiring of Interscope Geffen A&M head Jimmy Iovine as in-house mentor. Iovine was prominent in all the footage shot at yesterday's press conference, his Beats by Dre headphones prominently displayed around his neck. Of course, earlier this year, UMG signed a deal with 19 Entertainment to distribute albums by show finalists on Iovine's IGA. (9/23p)
