MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN: And here’s another: “Both sides have made much of the fact that their two key witnesses…are married with children. During his cross-examination of [Guy] Hands, Citigroup’s lead lawyer, Ted Wells, asked him if he was aware of news reports in Britain after he filed his lawsuit and said that those reports called [David] Wormsley a liar. Hands said he recalled the news coverage. Then Wells asked, ‘You know that David Wormsley is married and has children, right?’ (The implication of the question being that bringing such a nasty lawsuit against a married man—with children!—was out of bounds.) David Boies, the lawyer for Hands, objected on grounds of relevance. Judge Rakoff sustained the objection, observing that from opening statements much has been made of the fact that both Hands and Wormsley are married with children. ‘I congratulate them on their fertility. But, I do think it’s rather irrelevant to any issue in this case.’” (10/20a)
