Groban Disappoints

NO JOSHING: Wonderers are wondering about the relatively slow sales for Josh Groban’s much-ballyhooed, Rick Rubin-produced Warner Bros. album Illuminations, which will debut in the Top 5 of tomorrow’s chart. With projected sales between 180-185k, the total is at least 40% lower than pre-release projections, leading wonderers to wonder, what went wrong? Turns out he’s the third choice of opera lovers on this week’s chart, selling below both Simon Cowell discoveries Susan Boyle and Jackie Evancho. Will be interesting to see what happens through the end of the year. Groban’s 2007 album, Noel, was that year’s top-selling album after a strong holiday. (11/22p)
