Beatles for Sale

THEY WANNA HOLD YOUR DIGITS: The much-hyped Beatles Digital Invasion of iTunes this week has resulted in sales of almost 120k individual albums in the U.S. alone, with Abbey Road leading the way at an estimated 16k, followed by the White Album at around 12k and Sgt. Pepper’s at approximately 11k. And while that may sound like a rather small total, the Beatles Box Set, which includes all 16 of the albums, and sells for $150, moved almost 13k, which adds around 210k individual albums to that total, meaning the Fab Four sold an estimated 310k digital albums (minus the bundled total) in a week, not bad at all.
