Howe Now at Capitol, Virgin

HOWE NOW AT EMI: Veteran label exec Michael Howe is newly anointed Capitol and Virgin President Dan McCarroll’s first major appointment, as he's named VP A&R at the EMI Music labels, based in the Hollywood Tower. Howe joins the label from Downtown Music, where he was EVP/Head of A&R, responsible for all creative duties at the group, whose roster includes Gnarls Barkley, Santigold, David Gray, Mos Def, The Drums and Scissor Sisters. Said McCarroll: “I think that Michael is one of the most talented creative executives working in the industry today, with a real ability to work in partnership with artists to help them in achieving their goals. And he promises never reveal that I once worked at HITS.” Howe's first industry gig was A&R at Epic Records, based in Chicago, before moving to online retailer Spun.com in 1999,then founding LA-based independent artist development and management outfit Boundless Entertainment.
