CHEMISTRY: Adele co-wrote “Someone Like You,” which will appear on 21 (Columbia, 2/21), with Dan Wilson, who also produced it for the album. The Minneapolis-based writer/artist, best known for fronting Semisonic and Trip Shakespeare, has gotten all the collaborative work he can handle since Rick Rubin insightfully tapped him to write a number of songs with the Dixie Chicks for their 2007 Album of the Year Grammy winner Taking the Long Way (also on Columbia), including Song/Record of the Year winner “Not Ready to Make Nice.” Dan’s recent co-writing projects include songs for Josh Groban’s Rubin-produced Illuminations and a track from Weezer’s Hurley. His latest release, the two-CD Live at the Pantages (available for download on his site as well as the usual places), provides a comprehensive overview of Wilson’s sizable and impressive body of work.
