Aretha has the big C

SAY A LITTLE PRAYER: Aretha Franklin, who underwent surgery for an unspecified illness last Thursday after canceling concert dates through May, reportedly is suffering from pancreatic cancer. This form of the disease, which has a low survival rate, claimed Patrick Swayze and Michael Landon but spared Steve Jobs, thanks in part to a liver transplant. "God is still in control," Franklin said in a statement after her surgery. "I had superb doctors and nurses who were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country." (12/9a)
