Boies squeezes more $ out of Hands

TAKE OF THE DAY: David Boies, founder and chairman of Boies, Schiller & Flexner, has succeeded in persuading Terra Firma boss Guy Hands to part with more cash in appealing against the verdict in the EMI court case. At the time of the ruling in Manhattan last November, Mr Boies, who spearheaded Terra Firma’s attack against Citigroup’s David Wormsley, had to fly to San Francisco for another client, Oracle boss Larry Ellison, in the software group’s case against SAP. The lanky lawyer was more successful in that trial, but hopefully he is not juggling too many high-profile cases this time.” —Emiko Terazono in the Financial Times (1/13a)
