IB on Iovine's Idol role

THERE’S AN “I” IN IDOL: Perhaps the biggest question surrounding Season 10 of American Idol, which kicks off next Wednesday, is: how will Jimmy Iovine’s involvement impact the music of the show? The busy IGA boss offered an answer to Garrick Kennedy in Pop & Hiss: “Singing like someone else is not particularly attractive to a label. We have four or five great producers [including Rodney JerkinsRon Fair,Timbaland and Alex Da Kid] making sure they don’t sound the same every week. In the past, they weren’t getting the proper help to make sure they were getting better.” (1/13a)
