Monte get The Voice

THE VOICE MEETS THE LIP: On the heels of Lucian Grainge’s worldwide pickup earlier this week of The Voice, the singing-competition series created by Mark Burnett and John de Mol (Survivor), Monte Lipman has announced that music from the show will be released in the U.S. by his Universal Republic. The Voice of… series has been hugely singing competition in Europe, besting the like of The X Factor, Idol, Popstar and Holland’s Got Talent in Holland. The show will air on NBC  this spring. Said Lipman: “Universal Republic Records and The Voice is a great partnership. We both have proven track records of discovering and nurturing talent. To partner with Mark Burnett, John de Mol and NBC-TV will make The Voice America’s next cultural phenomenon.” (1/21a)
