Thin Lizzy Guitarist Passes

GARY MOORE, 58, former guitarist for Thin Lizzy, as famous for his intense facial expressions as his impressive blues-rock guitar pedigree, was found dead in a hotel room on the Costa del Sol in Spain while on holiday. The Belfast-born musician’s career began at 16, when he moved to Dublin in 1969 to join a band featuring future Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott, who died in 1986 at 36 after battling drug addiction. Moore was hugely influenced by Jimi Hendrix and Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, sharing the stage with blues legends BB King and Albert King. The cause of death was unknown. (2/7p)
