Free Strokes download

IS THIS IT? Yup, and it’s free, if only for the next two days. We’re talking about some long-awaited new music from The Strokes, the quintessential hipster band of the early 21st century. At some point today, the band will premiere new single "Under Cover of Darkness" as a free download from www.thestrokes.com as RCA delivers it to radio. The iTunes Store gets it next Tuesday (2/15). "Darkness" is from the upcoming album Angles, hitting March 22, the band's first new release since 2006's First Impressions of Earth. After a long hiatus, The Strokes returned to the road last year for well-received sets at the Isle of Wight Festival, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Austin City Limits, among other gatherings. They’ll headline Coachella in April. Note: We went to the site to grab the download at 7:30 a.m. PT, and there’s no sign of it yet. (2/9a)
