Hands in Fist

HANDS IN POCKET: Still more on Guy Hands’ supposed interest in buying back EMI from Citigroup as reported in today’s U.K. Telegraph, where the 51-year-old financier did not quite reveal how he planned to finance the acquisition. Terra Firma, which raised 5.4bn (4.6bn) in 2007, has about 2bn left to invest, with Hands apparently valuing EMI at about 1.6bn. During the court case against Citigroup, it was revealed that Hands had invested about 100m of his personal wealth in the firm. He added he would think twice before ever doing another high-profile deal. "It would take a lot to get me to do another deal which is as public as this," he said. "I've had very little sympathy for rock stars before buying EMI. Now I have enormous sympathy for them and all those who find themselves in the public eye." (2/11p)
