Doug Morris Deal Done

DOUG DEAL DONE: Vivendi struck a deal with Sony last night to allow Doug Morris to exit his contract early to run Sony Music, the N.Y. Post confirmed this morning (see our 3/1 story). Morris will exit UMG on June 30, and start his new gig July 1. The Post cites inside sources indicating Morris is unlikely to take any senior UMG staff with him, pointing out those execs close to him are all under long-term contracts, though L.A. Reid's deal will reportedly be up at the end of this year. For the official release, go here. (3/2p)
