Meet Rebecca Black

I MEME MINE: Latest viral sensation is 13-year-old Anaheim Hills, CA, student Rebecca Black, whose song “Friday,” a tribute to the weekend written by Clarence Jey and Patrice Wilson, has been viewed more than 30 million times, which is more than Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Black paid Jey and Wilson’s Ark Music Company $2,000 to record two songs. The music surged from 3,000 views on March 11 to 18 million when the Tosh.O blog included it in a story entitled, “Songwriting Isn’t For Everyone.” The blog is that of Comedy Central Internet video host Daniel Tosh. There are now a slew of parody clips, including a supposed cover by Bob Dylan, also below. (3/21p)
