iTunes, Amazon, Spotify dominate indie digital revenues

THE HOLY TRINITY: iTunes, Amazon and Spotify account for more than 94.4% of indie digital revenues worldwide, Digital Music News reports, citing data from the Association of Independent Music. Said Alison Wenham, head of the U.K.-based org, in an interview with Music Week, "There are now a series of monopolies, and it is jolly hard for anyone else to get a slice of the market.” She’s bloody well right. As for the States, A2IM head Rich Bengloff pointed out to DMN that "we in the U.S. have no U.S.-based Spotify service and do have a large eMusic presence." (3/25a)
