NARIP Best in Biz poll results

PROS’ PROS: NARIP (that’s short for the National Association of Record Business Professionals), has just posted the results of its 2011 Best in Biz Poll—a.k.a. 90 People You Should Take to Lunch. Among those 90, comprising the top three vote-getters in 30 categories, are winners Irving Azoff (Best Personal Artist Manager), Jimmy Iovine (Best Record Company President or CEO), UMGD’s Jim Urie (Best Traditional Distribution Executive), Interscope’s Steve Berman (Best Marketing Professional), RCA’s Wendy Goodman (Best Promotion Executive), Roadrunner’s Ron Burman (Best A&R Executive), Alexandra Patsavas (Best Music Supervisor), EMI Music’s Keith D’Arcy (Best Publishing Executive, Major) and Kenny MacPherson (Best Publishing Executive, Independent). Kenny Mac’s win is noted in the explanatory copy as an instance in which “marketplace chages” would have put him in another category, because “since taking nominations for this survey late last year, Chrysalis has been sold and is no longer independent.” But hey, you won fair and square, Kenny, and we’ll drink to that—as long as you’re buying.
