RECORD STORE DAY DRAWS CROWDS: Music Monitor Network’s Michael Kurtz offers a preliminary report on this weekend’s Record Store Day: “The very short version was that it was MUCH bigger than last year, with stores reporting folks waiting outside to get in with lines from 25 people up to a quarter of a mile long. For MMN stores, it is looking like sales growth will average out at about 25% up from the previous year. Stories, photos, and facts will be issued soon from us, along with our RSD partners at AIMS and CIM. When folks hear about the artists who participated and some of the surprise visits, they are going to be blown away. I think everyone involved has much to be proud of. The energy was pretty astounding.” (4/18a)
