Kanye at Coachella

KANYE DIG IT? Competing with Arcade Fire for the Coachella weekend’s most incendiary set was Kanye West’s festival closer last night, a nearly two-hour-long performance he referred to on-stage as the most important since his mother’s death in 2007. Starting out on “Dark Fantasy” astride a huge cherry-picker that carried him up over the crowd against a giant set emblazoned with a Greek bas relief backdrop and two dozen ballerina/dancers, the performance included all of his greatest hits, among them “Stronger,” “Gold Digger,” “Through the Wire” and a closing, emotional “Hey Mama.” Here’s a taste of what observers are calling “one of the greatest hip-hop sets of all time,” a ferocious medley of “All Falls Down,” “Touch the Sky” and “Gold Digger.” (4/18p)
