HBO Nabs Goon Squad

A VISIT FROM HBO: Jennifer Egan told interviewers her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about the music biz, A Visit From The Goon Squad, was inspired in part by HBO's The Sopranos, and now a series based on the book will appear on the pay cabler, according to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily site. Egan has closed a deal with HBO to develop her linked series of short stories with Groundswell's Michael London and Jocelyn Hays Simpson as co-exec producers. Egan will be a consultant. The deal was reportedly in the works before Egan won the Pulitzer, but her reps at ICM just closed it. It's the first big TV project for Groundswell. (4/20p)
