UNHOLY ALLIANCE: Lots of raised eyebrows following Tom and Alec Gores’ rumored plan to combine WMG with Tom Gores' Alliance Entertainment. How does owning Alliance, which is exclusively a wholesaler of physical product, make the Gores Group a synergistic strategic player? One observer joked that championing Alliance in the digital age is analogous to investing in typewriters. The Paradigm talent agency would seem to be a far more logical pairing. (4/21a)
