HBO Renews Treme

HBO RENEWS TREME: HBO has picked up its critically acclaimed New Orleans drama Treme for a third season, according to Nikki Finke's DeadlineHollywoodDaily. David Simon and Eric Overmyer's series chronicling the life of the city’s residents in the wake of Hurricane Katrina was down in its second-season premiere, drawing 605k viewers, down from the 1.1 million who tuned in for the series premiere last year. Still, as a premium network, ratings don't have much weight in their renewal decisions, especially for a show like Treme which has received such widespread praise. If you haven't seen it, you owe yourself a treat. (5/13p)
