The Voice finale

TEARS & SYMPATHY: The gushing turned into a torrent last night on the season finale of The Voice, the only musical competition capable of killing with kindness. In the end, Javier Colon was crowned the winner, edging Dia Frampton, followed by belters Beverly McClellan and Vicci Martinez. The last two shows provided the latest set of wrinkles on a series that was loaded with them, the finalists singing with their coaches on Tuesday night (e.g., Frampton and Blake Shelton, both sporting Ray-Ban shades, covering Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”; #10 on the iTunes singles chart this morning), and dueting on classic songs with the vocalists who'd originated them last night (Stevie Nicks joining Colon on Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”). In all, performances from the show presently account for half of the iTunes Top 10. (6/30a)
