Ferrera Joins Columbia

FERRERA, WHERE ART THOU? The back-and-forth personnel moves between Sony Music and UMG continue, as former Island Def Jam EVP A&R Stephen Ferrera joins President Ashley Newton’s Columbia Records A&R team, where he will be directly involved in the label’s TV properties, including The X Factor, Glee, Smash and Nickelodeon. While at IDJ, Ferrera worked with Bon Jovi, Ne-Yo, Jeremih and Chrisette Michele. His other projects have included Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway album, Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts, Rod Stewart’s American Songbook series and Leona LewisSpirit. He launched his executive career in 1997 in England as head of A&R/staff producer for the Chrysalis Group, where he signed and developed such renowned British alternative artists as Feeder, Moloko and Julian Cope. A lifelong musician, songwriter, and record producer, Ferrera has recorded with his own band for Universal Records, was an original member of Shakespeare’s Sister and recorded and toured with Suzanne Vega, where he consumed a record number of dressing room bologna sandwiches.
