Ethiopia to Motown?

ETHIOPIA TO MOTOWN: Negotiations are reportedly underway for Barry Weiss to bring Universal Music Publishing Group SVP Creative Services/Head of Urban Music Ethiopia Habtemariam to the newly established Motown imprint at Island Def Jam in a major creative capacity. Habtemariam, who has been with the pubbery since 2003, signed hitmakers like Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Ciara, Polow Da Don, Rock City and Brian Kennedy, among others. She will also get an extra-large business card to fit her full name. Tom Sturges named Habtemariam to her current post at UMPG in Feb. 2010. (7/8p)
