Sara Bareilles

SARA SINGS OFF: Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles will be the third celebrity judge on NBC’s The Sing-Off along with Ben Folds and Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman. The show, a competition to find the best a cappella group, returns Sept. 19, airing on Mondays, 8-10 p.m. ET in a weekly format with two-hour episodes, hosted by Nick Lachey. Bareilles, managed by Jordan Feldstein, who helped engineer Maroon 5 leader Adam Levine’s participation in The Voice, is opening for Sugarland on their current Incredible Machine summer tour. The video for her new single, “Gonna Get Over You,” will be directed by Jonah Hill in his debut. While attending UCLA, Bareilles was part of the a cappella group Awaken, who were her special guests on stage at her hometown Orpheum show in L.A. last summer. She also won UCLA’s annual Spring Sing two years running in both 2002 and 2003. (7/14p)
