Foster to Verve

FOSTER CARE: Look for Grammy-winning producer David Foster to be named Chairman of a bolstered Verve Music Group, as UMG prepares to relaunch it as a stand-alone label with an increased staff. Verve had previously come under the direction of UMe head Bruce Resnikoff. Foster was brought aboard by UMG boss Lucian Grainge to beef up the company's Adult Contemporary roster, and putting him in charge of Verve is part of a commitment to bolster the music group's A&R and creative talent rosters. Foster previously helmed his own 143 Records at Warner Music Group. (7/29p)
