DeGraw Beaten

DEGRAW BEATEN: Singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw, whose new J Records album Sweeter, comes out on Sept. 20, was viciously beaten by a pack of thugs in the East Village early yesterday, then got hit by a taxi as he escaped his assailants. The 34-year-old performer—who has spent the summer opening for Maroon 5 and Train—had been drinking with a group of pals when he was attacked sometime between 3:50 and 4:20 a.m. at Sixth St. and First Ave. suffering a broken nose and cuts to his face. He wound up at 19th St. and First Ave., where he was struck by a cab, although he was not seriously injured. He remained in Bellevue Hospital last night. (8/9a)
