Creed becomes A&R consultant for Univ Rep and ISJM

MARS LANDING: Bruno Mars manager Brandon Creed has just become an exclusive A&R consultant for Universal Republic and Island Def Jam Motown, reporting to Barry Weiss, Chairman/CEO of UMG’s two East Coast labels. This morning’s announcement confirms I.B. Bad’s assertion that Creed was being pursued by Weiss and UMG ruler Lucian Grainge. Said Weiss: “As we continue to expand our creative investments, Brandon is a perfect fit. Besides being a great artists’ manager, he is also a talented A&R and creative executive. We plan to get him very involved across our labels at Island Def Jam Motown and Universal Republic.” Commented Creed: “Barry is known for being an artist-focused, A&R-driven leader, and I am privileged to be a part of his and Lucian Grainge's creative team. I’m also looking forward to working with Monte Lipman, Steve Bartels, Karen Kwak and their illustrious artist rosters as they take these great labels into an exciting new era.” Creed began his career at Arista and was later recruited to be one of the founding employees of J Records. He subsequently did a stint at Epic. (8/15a)
