Rich Fitzgerald passes

RICH FITZGERALD, the longtime head of Reprise promotion who eventually rose to the label presidency, lost his battle with cancer yesterday. Prior to Reprise and Warner Bros. Records, Rich worked at RSO Records. In 1987, Fitzgerald moved to Reprise as label VP, then was named EVP/GM of the label in 1995. Most recently, he was involved in the management of Eric Clapton. Writes Reprise SVP Mike Rittberg: “For those of you who didn't know Rich, he was a kind and compassionate human being who had no ego and worked incredibly hard for our artists. He was an amazing person and he will be greatly missed.” Mary Prout Fitzgerald, Rich’s wife, posted the following message on Facebook: “I am sorry to say that our lovely Rich passed away yesterday afternoon. As you know, we were able to bring him home with hospice, so he was able to go peacefully, wearing his Jimi Hendrix tee, listening to his favorite music, and lay in the arms of our children, Hunter and Sloane, and myself. I'll keep you posted on funeral arrangements, as we are doing that today.” Please share your memories of Rich by e-mailing us at [email protected]. (8/16a)
