Caparro bidding on EMI?

OUT OF THE BLUE: Nobody saw this coming—assuming it’s for real. Former IDJ, PolyGram and WEA bigwig Jim Caparro has teamed with Alliance Warburg Capital Management on an offer for EMI, according to a press release yesterday, But the N.Y. Post notes that industry insiders questioned how the real the bid is, given that it’s unusual to issue a statement about taking part in an auction process that typically entails signing a non-disclosure agreement.
