Obama Meets Music Bizzers

PRESIDENT MEETS MUSIC BIZ: Aside from his welll-publicized visit to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles and Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, President Barack Obama took some time while out in L.A. to meet with some of the entertainment’s industry’s top insiders at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Among those on hand to greet the leader of the free world were CAA’s Rob Light, Atlantic Records Chairman Craig Kallman, UTA’s Rob Prinz, IDJ SVP Karen Kwak, promoter Bill Silva, UMPG EVP Tom Sturges and entertainment attorney Chuck Ortner. The event was not a fundraiser, but those invited have been ardent supporters of the president and were identified as "influencers" with the ability to help Obama shape the national political conversation heading into 2012. The vibe at the hour-long meeting was described as “casual,” with the president appearing for about a half-hour, trying to enlist their help in what he described would be a “tough” campaign. (10/26p)
