ALL ROADS LEAD TO LYOR: Lyor Cohen will now have direct oversight of the U.K., Germany and France as well as North America, following the resignation of John Reid after 11 years at Warner Music, Music Week reports. Reid was CEO of Warner Music Europe & International Marketing. An internal note from Cohen obtained by Music Week read: “I want to specially thank him for being such a powerful and energetic presence at our company for more than a decade.” An internal memo from Reid added: “Looking back on all our successes, I've decided that—rather than take a new role inside the company—the time was right to move on to my next adventure… I’m especially proud of the way we’ve partnered with pioneering digital services here in Europe. By embracing access and streaming models, digital revenue has surged and governments have seen the opportunities that exist when creativity is valued, convincing them to introduce groundbreaking legislation to protect cultural industry. All of these achievements have positioned the company for growth, not least by contributing to our successful sale to Access Industries earlier this year.” (11/10a)
