Cowell fires everybody but Reid

X’D OUT: Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones will all be replaced on the second season of The X Factor, E! News reported Monday night, citing unnamed sources. "At this point, the only ones staying are Simon and L.A. Reid," said a show source. Another source confirmed to E! News that neither Abdul nor Scherzinger was renewed, explaining that "Simon wants to take the show in a different direction," said the insider. The two sources say that Abdul’s removal isn’t a negotiating ploy, and "the plan is to part ways amicably." Nigel Lythgoe was apparently out of the loop on the reported moves, tweeting, "Shocked to see Simon has fired Paula Abdul, Nicole and Steve from the X-Factor." (1/31a)
