LET’S STAY PHYSICAL: According to a U.K.-based study just presented by eMusic and the AIM, a whopping 80% of British consumers still buy music in physical configurations. According to the study, the details of which have been reported by Digital Music News, 93% of those surveyed feel that owning music gives them security, while 87% say they won’t give up ownership for streaming. This is rather surprising given the massive popularity of Spotify in the U.K., and indeed, 64% use streaming to discover new music before deciding whether to buy it. But 70% say they won’t pay to stream music. So it appears that the survivability of streaming services depends on ad revenue, at least in Britain. (2/23a)
