Hunger Games Ready to Explode

APPETITE FOR HUNGER: Tomorrow's Hunger Games opening looks huge for Lionsgate. The film, which is in 4,137 theatres nationwide, already has $15 million in advance sales, selling out a total of 4,300 screenings. Estimated weekend box office take ranges between $130-140 million. The movie, based on the popular young adult novel, cost $75 million to make and $45 million to market. The film will easily beat the previous March record set by Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland with $116 million. The Universal Republic soundtrack, featuring the single by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars, is already headed to #1 next week as well. (3/22p)
