Rand Levin Upped at UMG

RAND IS DANDY AT UMG: Rand Levin is named SVP Business & Legal Affairs for UMG, reporting to EVP/General Counsel Jeffrey Harleston, while relocating from N.Y. to Santa Monica. The lucky dude will negotiate and draft entertainment industry agreements and related corporate agreements on behalf of the company and be actively involved in corporate content acquisitions and other strategic initiatives, like monitoring paper clip usage. Levin was most recently SVP Business & Legal Affairs for Universal Motown Republic Group and Island Def Jam Records Group. He was responsible for the label’s agreements and relationships with various label partners, including Cash Money Records and Lava Records, and was an integral part of the U.S. launch of the hit TV show, The Voice. Levin worked at Razor & Tie Entertain-ment as Senior Counsel, Business/Legal Affairs, beginning his career as a litigator at Robinson Silverman Pearce Aronsohn & Berman (now Bryan Cave), specializing in intellectual property and commercial litigation and employment matters.
