Jack White Tops U.K. Chart

JACK’S ALL WHITE: Jack White, set to debut at #1 for the first time ever on this week’s U.S. album chart, has just leapfrogged his XL Recordings labelmate Adele’s 21 in the U.K. for the top slot across the pond. On the singles side, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” scored her fourth week at #1 in the U.K. with total downloads of 434k. White’s Blunderbuss, on Third Man/Columbia over here, sold 40k compared to 15k for 21. White previously topped the U.K. chart with the White Stripes’ Elephant in 2003 and Icky Thump in 2007, though he has never done so in the States. Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die rose #4-3, with former chart-topper, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, dipping #3-4. Rufus Wainwright’s Out of the Game debuted at #5, his second U.K. Top 5, with Release the Stars debuting at #2 in 2007. Rough Trade’s Alabama Shakes, which entered the U.K. chart at #3 two weeks ago, climbed #9-6, giving indie labels three of the top six artist albums this week. Olly Murs’ Epic/Sony Music album, In Case You Didn’t Know, which debuted at #1 last December, climbed back into the Top 10 at #7. (4/30a)
