COMMOTION: At times, the American Idol finale looked like a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, between Aerosmith and Creedence auteur John Fogerty, who made a surprise appearance to sing “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”—embedded above—and “Bad Moon Rising” with winner Phillip Phillips. Fogerty was signed by label A&R exec Bill Bentley, who spent most of his career as part of the brain trust at Warner Bros. Records. (5/25a)
