Aaron Neville Inks to Blue Note

NEVILLE, BROTHER: Iconic soul/R&B vocalist Aaron Neville has inked with EMI’s Blue Note Records and will release a full-length album of classic, hand-picked doo-wop era material this fall, produced by Keith Richards and label President Don Was. “Aaron Neville is one of the most expressive and soulful artists of all time...it's a thrill to hear him sing,” said Was. Aside from Richards, the musicians on the album include session guitarist Greg Leisz, James Brown drummer George G. Receli and Tom Petty organist Benmont Tench. When he was growing up, Neville said “Doo-wop was like medicine to me. I didn’t care what else was goin’ on in the world as long as I could sing along with Pookie Hudson and the Spaniels, the Flamingos, the Clovers, Sonny Til and the Orioles, Clyde McPhatter—I was like a kid in a candy store.” His summer tour starts June 23 in Greensboro, NC.
