Apple Polishing

APPLE BITES: Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the iTunes app store has downloaded “an astounding 30 billion apps” during the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco yesterday, where they also revealed some tweaks that involved tighter integrations of its updated operating systems into Facebook and Twitter as well as a move away from Google Maps and towards their own “Yelp-peppered” mapping app. Other app stats: the store has over 400 million credit card accounts on file; it has paid out over $5 billion to developers; there are currently 650k apps in the store, 225k of them designed specifically for the iPad or iPhone and the company has made over $2.14 billion on apps it didn’t develop, raking in an average of 24 cents per app, including the free ones.
