Pittman Honored by City of Hope

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL: Tuesday night’s City of Hope gala at the Geffen Contemporary in downtown L.A. honoring Clear Channel’s Bob Pittman turned into a beautiful night under the stars, with guests entertained by the amazing Burning Man moving art installations, like a giant robotic hand, along with performances by Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and the Zac Brown Band. Past honorees on hand included Irving and Shelli Azoff along with Quincy Jones, while the indomitable John Sykes, didn't let a broken foot stop him as he worked the room while hobbling on crutches. Ryan Seacrest thanked Pittman for giving him a job, while the rest of the speeches were kept mercifully short. “Sykes stole my thanks yous,” said Pittman during his acceptance remarks, then commended everyone for putting their business minds aside to come together to help raise funds for the worthy cause. The real stars were the City of Hope staff and doctors dedicated through their care and research to find an end to cancer, diabetes and AIDS. A record total of $6 million was reportedly raised.
