HOUSTON’S LAST SPARKLE: The late Whitney Houston’s take on the gospel classic “His Eye is on the Sparrow” is one of the highlights on RCA’s upcoming Sparkle: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which comes out July 31, with the film, a remake of the 1976 movie, opening in theaters nationwide Aug. 17. The 11-song album also features tracks from Jordin Sparks and CeeLo Green. The first single, “Celebrate,” produced by R. Kelly, is a collaboration between Sparks and Houston, with the video (below) premiering on BET and VEVO last week. Sparks and Houston star in the movie, which was directed by Salim Akil (Jumping the Broom, Soul Food) and will be released through Sony Pictures. (7/2p)
