A SPIDER, A BEAR & A DIVA: The Amazing Spider-Man (Sony) earned $35 million in its opening day (7/3) for the highest Tuesday gross ever, supplanting the first Transformers movie, which debuted on the exact same day back in 2007. Ted (Universal) dropped to #2 with an estimated $8.4 million, bringing its five-day total to $71.5 million, and it will pass $100 million by Saturday at the latest. Meanwhile, Magic Mike (WB) was actually up 9%nfrom Monday to Tuesday, and added $5.45 million for a new total of $49.6 million. This day-to-day increase indicates that the movie will have more staying power than its front-loaded opening weekend suggested, and a $100 million total is still quite possible. More on Box Office Mojo. Opening today is Katy Perry: Part of Me (Paramount), which the L.A. Times’ Betsy Sharkey describes as “a backstage / back story pass to Perryland that is good summer fun.” (7/5a)
