Glaser back as Real CEO

GLASER GETS REAL AGAIN: The RealNetworks board has named founder and Chairman Rob Glaser interim CEO, following the sudden resignation of Thomas Nielsen, the company announced on Tuesday. Nielsen, formerly with Adobe and Microsoft, took over from previous interim CEO Mike Lunsford in November; Glaser stepped down from the post in early 2010. “The board and Thomas mutually agreed that the CEO position wasn’t the right fit,” Glaser said. “We thank Thomas for the contributions he has made in moving RealNetworks forward and wish him well in his new endeavors.” Glaser stated that his mission is “to set the company on a long-term path to success. RealNetworks has a great deal of potential and opportunity, with huge reach and distribution of our products, key carrier partnerships, talented employees, terrific technology assets and significant financial resources. I am committed to accelerating our business and product strategy to bring great products to our customers and run the company efficiently, and thereby create shareholder value for our investors." In the quarter ending March 31, RealNetworks lost $17 million on sales of $67 million, compared to a loss $12 million on sales of $87.3 million during the year-ago quarter. (7/6a)
