YOUR WEAKEND BOX OFFICE: Only one noteworthy film—the fourth installment of the Ice Age franchise—debuted on this midsummers weekend, and, not surprisingly, the animated feature won the weekend with a solid $46m. Last weekend’s winner, The Amazing Spider-Man, dropped to #2, while Ted showed enough strength in its third week to hang on to the third spot. Here’s the top 10:

Ice Age: Continental Drift (Fox): $46m – 3,881 theaters/$11,853 avg.
The Amazing Spider-Man (Sony): $35m (-43.6%) – 4,318 theaters/$8,106 avg.
Ted (Universal): $22.15m (-31.2%) – 3,303 theaters/$6,705 avg.
Brave (Disney): $10.7m (-45.5%) – 3,392 theaters/$3,153 avg.
Magic Mike (WB): $9.03m (-42.3%) – 3,090 theaters/$2,922 avg.
Savages (2012) (Universal): $8.74m (-45.5%) – 2,635 theaters/$31,466,000 avg.
Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection (Lionsgate): $5.6m (-45.0%) – 2,004 theaters/$2,794 avg.
Katy Perry: Part of Me (Paramount): $3.74m (-47.7%) – 2,732 theaters/$1,367 avg.
Moonrise Kingdom (Focus): $3.66m (-19.0%) – 924 theaters/$3,963 avg.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (Paramount/DreamWorks): $3.5m (-53.5%) – 2,285 theaters/$1,532 avg.

In the limited-release sector, the big story continued to be Fox Searchlight’s Beasts of the Southern Wild, which earned $775k in 81 theaters, an increase of 107.2% 81, averaging $9,568, putting it behind only Ice Age: Continental Drift in that measurement. Opening this Friday: the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises. More on Box Office Mojo. (7/16a)
